Cream
Legbar The blue egg laying Cream Legbar was created in 1929 by Michael Peace, crossing Brown Leghorns, Barred Plymouth Rocks and Araucanas (for the blue egg gene). They are an auto-sexing breed, meaning they can be sexed at day old. They are sometimes called the Crested Cream Legbars because of the crest or head tuft, a characteristic inherited from the Araucana. They are inquisitive birds, which can be flighty, but they can become very tame. They will lay around 200 blue / green eggs in their first year. As part of my breeding programme, I record the egg numbers as well as the colour and egg size, so hopefully over time the egg numbers will increase and egg size and colour will get better. |
