HYBRID CHICKEN
These
chicks are brought in at day old every month and reared on Fenton Farm, except for the Fenton Blue which is bred and hatched on the farm. They are reared in stables for 6-7 weeks and then transferred to rearing sheds until point of lay.
The only birds brought onto the farm are day old chicks, no older birds are brought on, this helps keep disease pressure low especially Mycoplasma by not importing infected birds which look healthy but can be carriers.
The Fenton Blues are bred using a closed flock, I just improve the birds I have through breeding.
All the chicks are vaccinated by our local poultry vet who comes every week or so to vaccinate the various ages of birds. Using a qualified poultry vet ensures the birds are properly vaccinated at the correct time to ensure the continued health of the birds.The birds are vaccinated against Mycoplasma, Salmonella,Mareks Disease, Coccidiosis, Infectious Bronchitis, Gumboro Disease, AE and Newcastle Disease.
